Fine-tune your observation skills and learn to more accurately use your compass underwater.
Through academic learning and open water training dives, you’ll become a better scuba diver and earn a PADI specialty certificate that counts towards the PADI Master Scuba Diver rating.
The academic portion of this course is done through eLearning at your own pace. You’ll explore measuring distances underwater and using natural references for navigation. You’ll do a deep dive into underwater compasses and advanced compass techniques.
Students will then join their TSC instructor, a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer, for three training dives in open water where they’ll put the theory to practice. You’ll measure your kick cycles to help you measure distance underwater. You’ll practice navigation techniques, including using a compass for a square or rectangle pattern, and mapping an area underwater. The three open water training dives take place over one day.
To enrol in this specialty course, you must be a PADI Open Water diver or PADI Junior Open Water diver.
The TSC course includes access to the PADI eLearning platform for the academic portion of the course, and three open water dives with a TSC Master Scuba Diver Trainer. After successfully completing the course, you will be issued a PADI digital certification card.
Tanks, weights and compass are included for the course. BCD, regulator and computer can be rented. Students are required to have their own mask, fins and snorkel.
