From May 2021, outside of our regular Advanced training, TSC will continue to offer it’s popular Cold-Water-Advanced-combination course. The course includes 3 certifications, Advanced certification, Drysuit certification and Nitrox certification. All dives are conducted locally.
Students will learn how to dive using a drysuit whilst completing their Advanced course and using Nitrox. The Advanced course will be conducted over 3 days in 3 different locations culminating with 2 dives on the incredible wreck of the Tiller located off the port of St Catherines lying at 110ft. Students interested in this course should connect with TSC to discuss scheduling and pricing.
Advanced Open Water SCUBA Course Description
This course can be taken immediately after completing the Open Water certification. Students do not have to be “advanced” to take it – it’s designed to advance a divers ability. The course helps build confidence and expand scuba skills through different Adventure Dives. Students will try out different specialties while gaining experience under the supervision of their Instructor.
(Junior) Open Water Divers who are at least 12 years old are ready to step up and enroll in an Advanced Open Water Diver course. Young divers may only participate in certain Adventures Dives – please check with us on these details. Students who complete the Advanced certification course will be able to dive to a depth of 100ft (30m).
What You Will Learn
There are two mandatory dives for the Advanced Open Water course – Deep and Underwater Navigation – a further three dives from the wide range of Specialty dives will also be required, for a total of five dives.
During the Deep Adventure Dive, you learn how to plan dives to deal with the physiological effects and challenges of deeper scuba diving. The Underwater Navigation Adventure Dive refines your compass navigation skills and helps you better navigate using kick-cycles, visual landmarks and time.
The other knowledge and skills students will receive during their training will vary based on interest and availability of specialty based on location – drift diving, wreck diving, buoyancy control, enriched air, dry suit are specialties often available in Canada.
The TSC Advanced course fee you are purchasing includes the academic component which is delivered in text book format, all dive instruction and leading during the course and the advanced certification card upon completion. There are additional fees for this course, these are listed below.
