The PADI Deep Diver course with TSC takes place at the Ivy Lea Campground, about 30 minutes past Kingston, where we can reach depths of 40 metres/130 feet!

Course Description

The PADI Deep Diver specialty course is all about going deep! You’ll learn about the various considerations and safety requirements for diving up to depths of 40 metres / 130 feet. Through eLearning and open water training dives, you’ll become a better scuba diver and earn a PADI specialty certification that counts towards the PADI Master Scuba Diver rating.

What You Will Learn

The academic portion of this course is done through eLearning at your own pace. You’ll learn about planning for deep dives, including NDL and gas planning.  You’ll also learn about the risks of deep diving, and proper techniques for mitigating these risks.

While the Deep Diver specialty requires 4 open water dives, as a PADI Advanced Open Water diver, you’ve already completed your first deep dive. With your TSC instructor, a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer, you’ll complete the three remaining open water training dives in one fun, action-packed day in the St. Lawrence river near Rockport. The dives will be between 20-40 metres deep, and will focus on different aspects of deep diving, including the effects of increased water pressure, compass navigation at depth and experiencing gas narcosis. We’ll also perform a simulated 8-minute emergency decompression stop breathing on an emergency air source.

Prerequisites

To enrol in this specialty course, you must be a PADI Advanced Open Water diver at least 15 years of age or older. If you haven’t been diving recently, you will need to attend a scuba refresher to ensure you’ll prepared of the challenging nature of this specialty course. (This is mandatory due to the increased challenges and risks of this course.) As with all courses, you must complete a medical questionnaire.

Includes

The TSC course includes access to the PADI eLearning platform for the academic portion of the course, and three open water dives with a TSC Master Scuba Diver Trainer. After successfully completing the course, you will be issued a PADI digital certification card.

Tanks and weights are included for the course. BCD, regulator, computer, 7mm wetsuit (with hood and gloves recommended) can be rented. Students are required to have their own mask, snorkel and fins (open-heel with boot strongly recommended due to rocky shore entrance).
