Start Diving

Start Diving

Depending on your needs we offer both full and partial PADI certification courses. To understand what option is best for you CLICK HERE

This option is your entire Open Water certification. This includes your Academic and
Pool sessions and your Open Water dives.

Our wonderful team of fun instructors will complete your academic portion as well as the in-pool scuba training with you over two days. The Open Water dives, also known as your certification dives, are completed in close proximity to Toronto on a separate weekend during the summer months.

For your convenience our classroom and pool are both located in the same facility, the gorgeous Bishop Strachan School, a private school for girls in Forest Hill, Toronto. Please note, however, that you are responsible for your own transportation to and from both the pool and the open water dive site. If you are interested in this option please add this to your shopping cart.

The Academic portion of this course is available using eLearning for any of our class and pool sessions.

This option includes only the academic sessions and pool sessions. Open water dives will need to be taken separately to complete your certification.

Want to take your open water certification dives in a warm water setting? Get the academic and pool portions of the course out of the way before your holiday. Don’t waste 2 days of your vacation in a classroom!

This course prepares you for your open water certification dives, by giving you all of the necessary theory and practical knowledge you need to travel and dive to a depth of 60 feet (18 metres) anywhere in the world. Through this course, you will get to know the basic principles behind the sport of diving, you will become familiar with scuba diving equipment and you will learn how to plan your dives.

Certification Dives

This option includes only the open-water certification dives. The academic and pool will have to be taken prior to these dives.

Did you complete your academic and pool training with another PADI scuba diving institution, but didn’t get to complete your certification dives? If so, bring your log book to us, with the completed academic and pool sections and let’s get you fully certified.

If you took your academic and pool training with the Toronto Scuba Centre, but didn’t sign up for the certification dives at that time, you can change that now and choose the second option when you sign-up.

Certification Dives Trial Run

TSC is offering new students who have completed the academic and Pool or Elearning and Pool portion of their Open Water Diver course the chance to do a trial run of their Open Water Certification Dives.

The trial run is a perfect opportunity for students to go through a simulated Open Water Certification experience and demonstrate their scuba diving skills to a TSC dive professional. The environment and briefings our Instructors will use are the same that will be used during the Open Water Certification dives. This will help build confidence and prepare divers who see this as a beneficial option ahead of their Certification process. TSC uses an Olympic pool which is 17ft  deep in for this course.

eLearning

eLearning is the perfect choice for students who want to save time by completing the academic part of their course online and joining us only for the in-pool training.

In order to complete the Full Open Water certification, you need to complete the academic portion, the pool session and the four certification dives.  The eLearning option means that you complete the academic portion of the Open Water certification at home, online and in your own time.  Many students choose this option to save them time on a weekend.  eLearning is the only option for midweek Open Water courses.

For a full description of the eLearning process, please read our general eLearning Page

The eLearning courses use PADI’s online eLearning programmes.  As such, PADI directly controls that aspect of any eLearning course and charges TSC for using it.  This means that eLearning courses are more expensive than our regular in-class courses. Most of our eLearning students usually find, however, that the increase in cost is more than offset by the time they save.  Students doing eLearning have one year to complete the online portion of this course.

Try Our Pool

Have you always wanted to see what breathing underwater  or scuba diving feels like?  Have you thought about taking a scuba course, but never made that final jump to start the adventure?  Then take this opportunity and come and try it!!

At Toronto Scuba Centre we believe everyone should have the chance to experience scuba diving.  Every week we stride into the pool with groups of potential students who want to try out scuba.  Some want to see if they like it and some simply want to try it to confirm what they already know. Stop putting it off and take that extra step! Jump in the water and see what all the fuss is about with the largest growing sport in the world. For $99, you can jump in our pool with full scuba equipment, we’ll show you some basic skills and you can take a dive in a nice and safe environment!  The best part is, that if you then decide to get your Open Water certification, we will credit you with $50 off the price of the Open Water Class & Pool course or the Full Open Water certification course.

Please call or email us, in advance, to confirm availability.
