Divemaster Course Costs

Divemaster Course Costs

Become a Divemaster

The cost of our Divemaster course (“DM”) is $1,049.00. Included in that price is the DM crew pack and decal that you need to use to complete the course, as well as all of the instruction from your instructors. Please be advised that there are additional costs that vary from Divemaster Trainee (“DMT”) to DMT that wholly depend upon the needs of the individual.

In addition to the $1,049 course fee, all DMTs will also need to pay directly to PADI the application fee at the time of our submitting your certification application. On top of receiving your DM certification, it is also possible to apply for certification as a Discover Scuba Diving Leader, a qualification that allows you to run Discover Scuba Diving courses (a greatly used asset in international locations). This additional certification, however, also carries a separate fee paid directly to PADI.

As mentioned on our main page detailing the DM course, the timing of the course depends on the timetable and comfort level of the DMT. A required part of your training includes assisting on certain courses. One of those courses is the Advanced Open Water course, that takes place in Brockville, Ontario. Accordingly, you will be required to attend at least one of our summer Advanced weekends in Brockville (some of our DMTs attend multiple Advanced weekends to further develop their skills). We need to secure one spot on the dive charter for each DMT that attends. That spot is secured for you at cost, but this is also an additional cost on top of the DM fee.

We strongly encourage you to continuously practice your skills while taking the DM course. We cover your air needs while you are training with us or assisting on courses. Some of our DMTs, however, also attend at our training facility independently of the DM course itself or when we are training students, to hone their skills. We are more than happy to accommodate that, however, for air consumption outside of the normal parameters of the DM course, we do keep a tally of extra fills. Those additional tanks are accounted for at the culmination of your course.

Finally, as a DMT working towards becoming a PADI dive professional, the expectations are that professionals own their own scuba diving equipment. We realize that not all DMTs will have their own gear at the outset of their training. We are happy to assist you with our rental gear, however, DMTs needing TSC rental gear must rent that gear (at a reduced staff rate) when it is needed. Those rental charges are tabbed and accounted for at the culmination of your training.

We fully appreciate that the costs of the DM course are higher than the previous training that a diver may have undertaken. We aim to help defray the initial outlay of those costs by only requiring an initial deposit of $500 to get your training started and then deferring those other costs until the time that they are incurred (in the case of the Brockville weekends) or the end of your DM training.
